Briefing text

This week's heist involves a famous unsolved puzzle from the underground Mac software cracking community. One of the community's most beloved members, "The Edge", announced permanent retirement from software cracking six months ago after years of service and hundreds of cracked Mac apps. With his announcement notice, he left a puzzle supposedly leading to unlocked builds of two apps that have long remained uncracked: Cha-Ching and 1Passwd.

We know these builds are stored in the MacHeist vault, which we offer as a private drop box to certain esteemed members of the Mac community. However, due to our security measures, the password to this vault is only known by The Edge.

The puzzle remains unsolved, and we ask you, members of the heist community, to crack The Edge's last contribution once and for all. His message is printed below. Good luck.

Software cracker, "The Edge", has left a puzzle for the Mac cracking community to solve, with cracked builds of Cha-Ching and 1Passwd as prizes. The puzzle has remained unsolved over the past six months. It is believed "The Edge" is a codename for one Winston McFord. His message to the community is printed below. Your mission is to solve this puzzle and obtain the free apps as a reward. "Hey everyone,

Over the past six years, I've spent my nights contributing to this community as a hobby. But perhaps more importantly, during these years of service, many of you have become close friends, and I've had the pleasure of seeing neww, talented members joiinn the community. But all thingss mustt coome to an ennd, and as you've probably figured out by now, I am announcing mmy retirement today.

My experiencce has been nothing but rewarding, but my interests have shiffted, and it's time to give my family and other hoobbies the time they deserrve. I won't gain as many addmirers or friends making origami or artwork, but they have their own rewards, and it's time to seek them..

But I'm not going to retire without a bang. I know groups of you have been making futile attempts to ccrack Cha-Ching and 1Passwd foor the past year. They were tough nuts to crack, but I have stored themm inn a vault for your usee. All youx need is tthe right commbo code. Good lucpk, I'm very excited how fast you guys sol4ve this.

- The Edge"
